Hey,

I'm in need of a classic car for a conceptual high fashion photo-shoot that I'm going to be doing. In the next month or 2. It's going to be shot in SW London (location given sooner the date). If any one has any suggestions of how or who i could contact that would be great.

There is unfortunately no budget but costs will be covered as well as a disc copy of some of the final images.

Thanks

Shaun

Oh, i was thinking along the lines of.. Austin Healey 3000 MK III

I have old 911 or Ferrari 355 if you're stuck, not exactly classics though. The 911 is closest I'd say.

A Healey 3000 MK3 would be a great car to use for your shoot . Ice Metallic Blue ( my late Dad bought one brand new in Aug 1964 in this Colour , FVX 803B Where are you now ? ) would be a great Colour choice , very 60s and probably the best Healey Colour, ( but not with the White lower section) or they look good in White .

Another car to consider would be the early 60s Alfa Romeo Guilia/Guilietta Spider ,( One was used in the Film The Day Of The Jackel) acheingly Pretty and look gorgeous in White . You may struggle to find one though , ( The Julietta Register could be a good start ). Or my faveourite an E-Type S.1 Roadster in Opalescent Silver Blue ,absolutely breathtakeing .

If you ever need an 80s/90s icon for a shoot , i have a lovely Standard ,Original Black R.5 GT-Turbo .

I have a well used 1972 Alfa GT Junior in SW London
Or you may be better trying www.chelseacars.com or www.classic-chrome.co.uk see if they would lend you something beautiful and shiny?

1975 (rubber bumper) MG midget? Brooklands (mid/dark) Green, completely mint if you'r interested.

Whats the shoot for if there's no budget? Who's the photographer? Just asking as surely if its a company theyr already paying for the photographer/model/location? And if its a 6th form project/excuse to produce smut then people could be less interested?

Hmmmm, possibly, I was just a bit suspicious that if its a profesional job, then why aren't they paying?

Either
a) its not profesional (in which case, do you even have some sort fo insurance in place if you damage someones pride and joy)
b) he's a photographer whos taken the job on a lump sum basis and doesn't want to share the money.

And if I was going to spend the day sat on my arse waiting for a photoshoot to finish so i could drive home I'd expect something for my trouble?

Guys just to say, Shaun is a friend of mine. Il probably pop along with him for the shoot and concentrate solely on the car. I havent spoken in depth about the shoot but im pretty sure it will make up part of his final major project for uni. I recommended pistonheads to him, hes not dodgy or anything!

Hey,

Sorry i haven't been able to get back sooner!

In response to the questions and ideas, I'm the photographer, some of my work can be seen at www.shaun-james.com

I unfortunately don't have a budget as im a third year and the shoot would be towards my final major project. I will of course pay the owner for expenses and their time but like i say, there is no budget as such.

The shoot will be high fashion and is more of a performance based outcome rather then still based. (i can discuss this more with potential collaborators.

No not smutty at all.. haha. I think i'd fail my degree if i submitted work along the lines of maxpower.. sooner the time ill post some mood boards along the lines of how itl look. and what designers as such will be used. (the concept is the most important aspect of this shoot rather then the outcome

To be honest im not too clued up on my cars, but the replys and suggestions I've been getting all seem to work very well, so thank you for that.

If ive forgotten to answer anything please do post and ill try answer a bit quicker this time! haha..

Thanks guys and keep the suggestions coming!

I like them both, and to be honest the car being an iconic classic in perfect condition isn't a must, these two are pretty much perfect as well. What colors?

Thanks

yes, amazing. I'm going to sort the public liability today so I'll get back to you when I've done so.

Also, whats the procedure for a model driving the car (obv they would have to have full driving license, but I'm thinking about insurance ect?

Thanks

Only pic I've got is a fairly naff cameraphone one

This model and colour. The differences are, my wheels dont look quite that good (matt silver), mine's green all the way down the sills. All the 'bits' are original, so chrome isn't imaculate, And I swear you'd have to photoshop it to get it the paint that bright!

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C53339/?pt=pf

Insurance, no idea, and I wouldn't be too keen letting someone I didnt know loose in an unfamiliar car in london trafic...........
