Advert says 1953 which would make it a TA or TB. It looks nothing like the TA,B,C coachwork I have seen before. It looks more like a 30's speed 20

Warning Ignorance mode!

Didn't Alvis make the chassis etc. and then have the body coach built? Maybe you could have other bodies.

its a rebody, the (TA i think?) saloon body unbolts off the chassis.

they go quite well as they are very light.

They did indeed for the early part of the 50's. The styling is 30's though not 50's. Graber did some wonderful coachwork but it was contemporary rather than pre war stuff.

Radiator has all the halmarks of the TB or even the TC but yes it is definitely a rebody.

It is definately a "special" ie a later car rebodied in the style of a 30's tourer. Look at wheels (not very tall, fairly wide) and headlamps. Doesn't make it a bad car though...

Bonnet mascot is type 25 (from memory) crested eagle. Alvis sold these as chassis. Whether the bodywork is original (period special etc etc) is anyones guess

Quite nice though

The giveaway is the price -a Speed 25 tourer is going to cost a lot more than Euro 35,000! Most likely a rebodied TC21 since it's listed as 1953. Not a bad looking car for all that, though.

It's most likely to be based on a TA21 as there were very few TB and TC 21s made. Alvis made the rolling chassis and some panels on some models with a coachbuilder supplying an approved body. There are a few around (rebodied TA21s in 1930s style bodywork) but they look out of proportion at meetings and usually suffer in value. £35k appears to be extremely optimistic but you never know...
