Goodwood Rivival advice
Discussion
Looking at attending in September (appeals to me more than the FOS).
Could anybody please give me some advice regarding which tickets are best and recommend anywhere for accomodation? (not sure if we want to camp) I'd also be grateful for any other general hints & tips you may have.
The ticket options are General Admission, Lavant Roving or Startline Grandstand and as I'm not familiar with the circuit I don't know the pros and cons of any of them.
Many thanks in advance

Have a look on the Goodwood section on Pistonheads. For example: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... Question (or two)
I did the Lavant stands in 2008 with a friend, we both agreed that it gives you a good view of the cars on track, had plenty of space around, not crowded etc, but its bloody long walk from the rest of the experience.
In 2009 I went with a client who had a couple of cars running, found it much more agreeable (less walking, more cars ) but didn’t have the comedy drive home with my navigator like the year before

Yes, but like I suspect many others I was pissed off by one of the newspapers giving away free tickets after I had paid out my own money. Watch out for that nearer the time.
OK I missed that, which rag was giving away free tickets to the Revival?lowdrag said:

Gosh - You spend all that money re-creating wonderful VPC 712, have Sir Stirling drive it at The Revival, and you still have to pay out your own money to get in .I was talking to one of the competitors the year before and he told me that he was paid to bring his cars .
Well, I bought my ticket before I was invited. The invitation came only 10 days before the Revival you see. I managed to offload my ticket a half price but the hospitality I received from Goodwood was worth every penny I lost on the ticket. Drivers tent, Richmond enclosure, above pit access, two invites to the Saturday ball, it was a fantastic deal in all and I don't regret anything. Just lining up on pit straight on Sunday next to Jackie Stewart was worth every penny too!

And until the time of your car's invitation to the Revival Tony, I thought that you and I might have met in Angouleme at their 70th, where you had planned to be for the first time in 17 years - IIRC .Angouleme is in the calendar for this year sir! My roots are calling, the need to get close to the oil and mechanics, not to bee miles from the action. Yes, Angouleme this year - unless Goodwood invites me again of course! Incidentally, I have never heard of anyone being paid to take a car to Goodwood - it is the honour of being invited that counts. You can't enter Goodwood, just be invited.

Tony, a relayed an incident about Goodwood management. Apparently `his nibbs` had asked a former FI champion to organise the bike racing in the early days. An arrangement that lasted for some years till very recently . Apparently `his nibbs` struct a better deal with another group to organise it( in other words,` his nibbs` was being paid by the other group to host it). He in turn failed to tell his long term compatriot he was not needed anymore, until a week before the event, He, having organised many many riders and bikes to be there has I believe sworn never to go back, as he organised the events for free.I don`t blame him.
A typical scummy upper class thing to do.I hope to god we are not subjected to his sister`s singing again this year. That will be the end of Goodwood for me.
I think , that family are so far up there own backsides they have lost touch with the original concept. Its now milk ,milk the public.
£5 per burger and about the same for a beer.

A Picnic basket / cooler seems to be the way to go for any of these events, get scalped just buying tickets so cant afford anything else on top............of course the £120+ in fuel also makes a sizeable dent in my piggy bank Edited by lowdrag on Friday 29th January 17:16
