There must be masses of you guys who've either been lucky enough to land yourself a new toy over the winter, or been fettling the garage queen ready for the spring weather to arrive.

So, whos working on what, whos getting ready to unveil the new pride and joy and who's found more trouble than they were expecting and having to re-evaluate the timescales involved?

Well, I am currently attending to my Morris Marina rear wheel arches & front cross member of my beloved 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850. The former is an easy job, as the entire front end / floorpans / front wings etc have all been done by the previous owner. The 1850 however, is a different story.

I intend for the marina to be roadworthy by mid 2010, but the Dolly is planned as a 5 year job due to the sheer extent of the bodywork needed and quite possibly an engine rebuild. The car was registered on 7th December 1972 which means that the car must be one of the earliest left in existence, so will be well worth it. This was also the day I was born, which makes the car just that little bit extra special to me........especially as the Dolomite is my favourite model.

I am also tinkering with my 1972 Rover P6 3500s as and when I get any spare time...........

Some would say that it would be best to concentrate on one at a time, but variation is the spice of life.........

Rebuilding the 1275 for the XI (again). Turns out that the rebore I had +40 was actually more ~+45 meaning compresion loss round the rings so now had to go +60 with +60 pistons. Oh well, once I can work in the garage without my fingers freezing I'll finish putting the engine together and drop it back in. Looking forward to getting the car back on the road at last.

- replacing the engine on another golf gti
- replacing the heated washer jet loom and washer pump on the saab
- stripping another mk2 for spares

i could really do with some dry weather over the weekend as all of those jobs will be getting done on the driveway :-(

This alone lets us know that there is something rather strange about you wink

Sounds like you've got your hands (and garage) full fella!

I omitted the Opel Monza (aquired this week) from my list of current playthings, As well as my camper.......

When you write these things down and see it in black & white, you start to question your own sanity. My missus certainly does!

There are not enough days in the week!

Just cutting lumps out of the NS sills and floor pan on my 1972 Alfa 2000GTV, I'm hoping to keep most of the original inner and middle sills, but it's looking like it could be tricky. New NS front floor pan and part of the chassis leg are likely too, the jury is still out on the rear floor pan.

My other car a 68 1750GTV, is waiting it's turn, some tricky work needed on the inner wings, means it's an engine out job.

At least it's starting to warm up a little now, well it's above zero anyway!

BMW 2002 Cabrio. Rear suspension. Subframe is off for a comprehensive rebushing and a paint.
Mountings need some welding as does the boot floor.

I'm just OK with a Mig but I'll have had a lot more practice by the time this one is back on its wheels!

MGB - rusty sills I guess most of you could have guessed that...
SL 350 - stripped the paint from the wheels and each is getting a new coat. Need to fix the mechanism for the soft top but the hard top is on at present so that'll wait till spring when I take the hard top off.

Refitting the rebuilt radiator to the Fiat. If I can muster the enthusiasm to get out there...

I bought a '69 Sprite in November and the bodywork needs tidying up a little but I am looking forward to taking her out - she's more than likely going to be a rolling project but she's tidy enough for her age and mechanically good so I'm itching just to get her out there and meet other classic enthusiasts!;)

You're obviously a confident man with a welding torch taking on those motors. I only wish I had that sort of talent, I could've saved myself a fortune over the years! wink

More confidence than talent perhapsrolleyes

Cutting it up is easy, welding it back together again is the tricky bit!

Too much on the go all at once.
I really need to rationalise but can't bring myself to sell any of the toys.
Trouble is a welcome return to rallying (now historics) has just added more compexity eek

I'm still working on this.

Although technically I finished the work last July, couple of weeks before the car got driven to Spain, there are a few things to complete.

Refurbishing the Kelsey-Hayes servo on the E-type. Parts have been a problem but all found now. I made a mistake with the C-type and really it needs a 3.31 axle ratio instead of the 3.54 too.
