Looks like a type 40 or a variation of it.

My bet would be is its a fake..................... reason being that from the pic I can see coil springs on the front and hydraulic brake lines (yes some bugs had them, but not with modernish looking rubber lines smile )

As well as the obvious in that it doesnt have a Bug radiator shell or badge and its got what looks like a horse as the mascot, whilst even the Rembrandt Bugatti Elephant was only used on the Royale smile

The wheels look to be bolt on rather than the trad Bugatti knock on style

Could it possibly be an old car that's been modernised? Also, you can see the Bugatti badge at the top of the radiator grill if you zoom in, it's just not clear on that photo.

Could be, but given the massive amount of work that would need to go into changing the entire front suspension from leaf & friction damper to wishbones and hydraulics/coils and the resulting plummeting of the cars value, far more likely that somebody has a kit car and put a Bug badge on the front (even at 400% I couldnt be certain that it is a Bug badge)

Teal for example make (or at least used to) kit cars that look like Bugs smile

And dont forget that Bugatti were famous for their Horseshoe radiator................something this car doesnt have, yet almost every single bug road car does (even the Tanks had a version)

ETA, a pic of a type 40, note suspension and Radiator grill as well as all the other front end bits, Bugatti's evolved up until the second world war, so most details remained very similar smile

This is not a Bugatti, the give away clue the fact the car is Left Hand Drive.
Bugatti built there vehicles with Right Hand drive steering.

In no way is this a Bugatti! As above, it's either a Ford Model A or a modern replica Ford Model A.

My namesake will be spinning in his grave!

As per previous posts, that car may well have a badge that has Bugatti on it (still couldnt see clearly at that resolution), however the car it's attached to is not a Bugatti smile

Given the size of badges on known bugs look considerably larger, I'd suggest that if it is a bug badge, then it's a repro badge of a smaller size.

ETA:

Looks like it's a Shay replica Model A Ford

Agree that it's certainly not a real WO - perhaps a Petersen special?

The badge doesn't even look like a bugatti badge, let alone the car itself!

It's a Petersen Based on a Rolls 20/25 chassis with an ex-military 8c Rolls engine

Interesting, any ideas why the DVLA think its a Mk VI? or is it simply a case of using enough MK VI bits to justify the retention of the Bentley chassis plate?................. irrespective of where the bits come from its a lovely looking car smile

I think they're quite well done but can we have some pictures of some real vintage stuff rather than knock-off's!

Just come to this thread, I concur with those who suggest that the Bugatti is a Ford Model A.

The Vintage Bentley replica at first thought might be MKVI based, but the dampers and chassis front seen in the front picture throw me off the scent, as the dampers, chassis side rails and front link bar etc aren't MKVI. But the chassis and suspension does look very MKVI like when viewed from the side, especially just behind the front wheels. I'm stumped, could be Derby based, but then, as cinque says, it's a RR 20/25.
