I noticed I hadn't had the magazine for two months so dropped them a line. I received a reply today that "my subscription had lapsed". Curious that, since I have always paid quarterly by direct debit for years - the only option open to me since I live in France. So I rang them today and if you can think of it, they tried to use it as an explanation.

They "had changed the company responsible for direct debits". Well, then the details of all DD's should have transferred too, I ventured to reply.

"Ah, it's because you live abroad. We can't debit your french bank account". Well, I replied, I thought reasonably, actually you debit by english account and have done so for years.

""Er no, sorry, it's because you have an english account and live abroad". What difference does that make, I asked?

Data Protection Act? Terrorist laws? 100 Years War? I dunno, but I would have thought that, in these straightened times, magazines would have done whatever necessary to keep subscribers with sales across the board falling. Not so it seems. So, anyone else had problems?

No problems here, but because I have a Bradford postcode they wouldn't dare suggest I was a terrorist.
hehe

No problems for me. Paid by quarterly DD, no problems.

Incidentally LD, have you tried the French version of C&SC?

Well, Doofus, I've read it and offered them an exclusive on my new C-type in France. They didn't bother to reply, which about sums up the organisation I feel. Anyway, Octane is head and shoulders better IMHO. £50 more to spend in the bar next June or July I guess.

Everyone keeps going on about Octane. I suppose I ought to buy a copy - I've never read it...

Didn't get the edition the month before last with the Griffith on the cover, but that was probably down to the postal strike.

Otherwise it's been excellent. smile

What, January? With the MkII Jaguar? Blimey. I've got that about a fortnight ago.

I get Octane here in Toronto by subscription , I did get C and SPC, but the delivery service was rubbish, so I just get that as and when I want to.
