I have recently aquired some land which came with this:

I wonder if someone could tell me what it is.
I thought it might be a MG Magnette ZB but 1950's saloon cars are not really my speciality.

It also came with the Landrover but that was'nt to difficult to identify.

It's a Daimler; maybe a Conquest or a Regency.

I have an irrational desire to offer you money for it; does it still have the engine? Edward Turner's sweet 4.5 hemi-head V8 made those things real 'Q' cars. Definitely on my 'cars I must own before I die' list. Seriously though, that's a break for spares job only.

A Daimler Majestic Major, well now I know. Although I have no idea what I am going to do with it. It is actualy about 1000ft up a hill on an old sheep farm, probably an interesting story why it ended up there.
For those of you who like these kind of things here are a few more photos.

The interior is in pretty good condition and the chrome is in amazing condition considering it has been lying in the open for years. All the badges are missing (which is why I did'nt know what it was) but everything else seems to be there, just a bit weatherbeaten. Interesting "patina" as they say.

Yes why not indeed. Probably only take about 2 years and around thirty grand, I would be bound to get at least twelve grand when it was finished. Apart from the divorce and financial ruin it would probably be a fun project. Maybe you could come over and give me a hand.rofl

Now don't be shy, you just need a bit of encouragement that's all, and a gentle nudge from the PH collective! After all, you did say:

That's a real pity about the engine.

The 4.5L version of the Daimler Hemi as fitted to these are VERY RARE and used to be really sort after by the late 70's/early 80 hot rod/custom crowd.

Los Angeles based hot rod builder and ex-pat Steve Dennish has one in his 32 Ford roadster, and it confuses the heck out of Americans at hot rod meets over there smile

I am building a rod at the moment, i have been looking at different v8s, a couple of daimler 4.5ltr engines came up on e-bay a couple of months back needing rebuilding, i think from memory they made about £400.00 quid each, good luck

At least get it looked over to see if anything is sellable/ salvageable or even restorable. There doesn't look to be a massive ammount of rust on that.

Then the alarm went off and I woke up. Sorry man only good for spares. The big V8 didn`t produce the horses when Jaguar tested it against the 4,2, plus it was staggeringly expensive to produce. Diamler used really high quality materials on the bottom end, virtually Chrome molly rods I beleive and a super strong forged crank. Most of the big six Diamler engines were pretty poor by comparision, with the exception of the century version, as raced by Ken Wharton.

I'll probably regret this, or at least be disowned by the domestic authority; bigblock you have a PM.

I have quite a bit of storage space so I will get her put away inside and then contact the Daimler owners club and see if a good home can be found.
I should do this soon because I did find myself putting a few bits back on and giving her a bit of a tidy up. A very slippery slope !
