In my book the V6 engined Storm is a classic waiting to happen. At the time considered a real GT car and good road holding with it. I'm sure the values can only go up in the long term and being a VW parts availability will always be good; after all, it is only a rebodied Golf.

Have owned a (non Storm) 'rado VR6 for 6 years now, lovely cars to own and drive.

The Storm is just a badge, and paint/interior combo (no mechanical differences) and they command a premium over the non-Storm variants- if your looking for a car to drive and enjoy then IMHO its not worth the premium, however- I would expect them (rightly or wrongly) to hold their value more (although corrado's haven't really depreciated at all in the last 3-4 years) and be the first to rise value due to their relative rarity- wouldn't have thought that there are more than 300-350 of the original 500 left by now..

Bear in mind (unless you pay top dollar) they are likely to all be 100K+ miles now and will be in that phase where various bits (suspension/hoses etc) need replacing due to wear and tear

In short- if you're just buying to drive and use, then probably not worth the premium, if you're buying more with a view to keeping it as a classic/looking for rarity then it may be worth the premium to you..
...if you're looking for a show car, then buy the best condition one you can find foir the amount of money you have (which is more likely to be a std VR- albeit the Storms by definition will be the youngest, but perhaps not cheapest for condition)

However Storms do have that additional 'exclusivity factor' amongst an already rare car

As said above the storm badge was only paint/interior combo.

I have had my VR6 for 2 1/2 years now. Bought it with 80k on and now its done 92k. I use it everyday for work on a 50 mile round commute and generally all been ok.

They are nearly 15 years old now so parts will be beginning to deteriorate. I bought mine totally standard but had to replace many parts because of age. Look out for a faulty rear spoiler and sunroof.

In all its had

Water hose that had deteriorated.
Suspension bushes all round. (rear beam bushes are supposed to be changed every 40k they reckon)
Brakes all round.
Shocks and springs ( i opted for coilovers)
Wiper arms and blades from a lupo gti ( the standard ones just dont work)
Thermostat
Plenty of spark plugs and ignition leads.
Idle valve
Lambda sensor
Water temp sensor.

Some parts can be expensive if they are corrado specific but most parts are shared with other vw models so not too expensive.

I was thinking of selling mine soon but havnt a clue what to ask for it.
