The best heat/sounmd insuation for cockpit
Discussion
Thge Aston gets very warm when we drive it, and can also get quite noisy too- the heat means always having an open window etc.
This winter I want to line the bulkhead and interior with those heat/soundinsulation mats. Does anyone have any experiece with any of these/know whwich is best?
Koolmat
Cool-it
Hush mat
Dynamat
Or any of the others out in the marektplace?
Thanks in advance

Two different things to insulate, heat & sound.
Koolmat - good heat insulation but expensive. The heat insulation stuff won't melt with the heat but won't give you much sound insulation.
As for dynamat - its basically made from the same stuff as roofing tape, if it's only soundproofing you can use the same stuff and save a fortune! Downside, it will melt if placed in a 'hot' area.

Flashing tape is bitumen-based, as is standard Dynamat. The butyl-based stuff (Dynamat Extreme, Damplifier etc.) is supposed to be much more effective, but it's intended to stop panel resonance and not reduce airborne sound, for which you want something like a closed-cell foam or mass-loaded vinyl barrier.
