The DVLA will know. I've phoned them asking for help with how many Astons are left on the road and they were very helpful

I must admit to quite liking them, as long as they're in one of the higher trim levels as the base models were dire inside. I had a GL for a little while; it was comfortable, it worked, it would do the ton, you could get quite a lot of stuff in it, and it was better made and better feeling than a Sierra and didn't have such a horrible engine as a Sierra (the only good thing about a Pinto is that when the cambelt goes the valves don't hit the pistons smile) It was rotted to buggery though such that you couldn't open the rear doors if you parked with one wheel on a bump, and got scrapped.

Liking Mk 2 Cavaliers is one of my shameful secrets, much like liking Nik Kershaw smile

Owned an 1987 gl version for a while and agree with you. leccy windows and mirrors, comfortable seats, reasonable interior. bought for 500 quid, sold for 500 quid, replaced oil and air filters and a set of sparks in a year and that was it. Does make me feel a bit nostalgic, but I can imagine the disappointment if I was to get back in one now....

These are the people to speak to I expect http://www.mk2cav.com/forum/index.php

I think they asked the DVLA not so long ago about numbers so they should be able to help with info etc

My old man had an '83 1.6GL Hatch in white followed by a facelift '86 1.6L Hatch in red. He had both cars for years and they took our family around the South of France & Spain and were both great cars.
I had an '83 1.6L Hatch Auto (with factory elec windows whooo) in red, I fitted GLS alloys, the cambelt snapped and the autobox broke....
Theres an old boy who's house I drive past on the odd occaison when I do the school run who has an E plate CDi saloon in metallic blue parked up in his carport - One day, I'll knock on his door...
