Just how modern can this be? Has anyone got something relatively recent (i.e. 1990s) under this type of insurance? I'm thinking Lotus Elise, limited edition Imprezas (RB5), Honda Integra, Alfa GTV V6, etc.

My 911 is insured under a modern classic policy and its a 2000 year. Try Chubb insurance.

Heritage who insure my 150 would give me a very good classic style insurance on my X300 but not if it included business use. Whereas adding business use to the 150 was free.

I think you'll find that to get an agreed valuation, low mileage insurance policy under the guise of a classic it needs to be 10 years old minimum and must be garaged.

Had an MGB and got classic insurance and went back to them (Lancaster) with a 'new' Jag much later. Mines not garaged but has got limited mileage. They appear to be pretty flexible, certainly worth asking.

Carole Nash might be worth a punt too.

Glad that you've brought this up as at the end of this year i was hoping to get the ///M3 on a modern classic/collectors policy seen as it's no longer my daily commuting car.

TVR Cerbera, 2002 insured with Hagerty £464, agreed valuation £20k.

They've just insured my old man's MGC GT Sebring ( see http://www.britishv8.org/MG/ShaunHolmes.htm ) for £412.

You have to be over 25 years old IIRC.

The car must be garaged.

You must have another car/access to.

I bike everywhere, and they seemed happy to accept that though, however I do have access to other cars if necessary.

Your dad's MG is really lovely. A lot of care and effort gone into it. The MGB GT Sebring replica is one of my dream garage cars. Who couldn't be moved by a triple row of Weber 45s yum

I would like to recommend Classicline. (Google 'em - they are in Hinckley, Leics) I have our 1929 Ford Model 'A' replica (a kit car!!!) insured with them. Unlimited mileage, agreed value (photos were required) occasional use for work OK, keep the car if write-off, repair it myself etc etc. £198, which I feel for unlimited is very reasonable. They are hugely involved with hot-rod, modified and custom vehicles but also claim to be willing to insure other cars & other (eg home) type insurance. They are very very helpful and give nice personal service.
I know that one can obtain very low-cost cover for genuine old cars (I have an acquaintance with a nice 1936, I think it is, Morris 10/4 that only costs him under £50 but that is limited to 3k miles per year.
FWIW
