Hi guys

I need some help identifying what I think is a `bonnet mascot' that my dad has had on the front of his old tractor for many years.....he thinks he acquired it in 1955... he would love to know what vehicle it came off and any relevant history....Ive trawled the internet and not come up with anything the same as this...and Im hoping that one of you will be able to help me

thanx for that - however I dont think the are quite the same - on my `bird' the feet are
quite streamlined with the back of the tail ( they dont hang down from the body like your stork)
and also the wings on the stork are bent a lot lower than on mine - there is also more feather detail on the stork than on mine..... mine looks more like a swan or a goose? ...also the one in your picture looks like its attached to the car by the wing tips whereas mine is attached on its underbelly.....

I haven't seen too many HS mascots (who has?) but those I have seen have all been very fine and delicate, and are mounted by the tips of their wings, not their belly. Yours looks very heavy, a cruder copy maybe?

@ BG - yes it is fairly heavy. Its wing span is around 4" wide and its around the same
size from beak to feet. However, now Im looking at it really closely Im not sure whether
what i thought were its feet are actually tail feathers as there appears to be a rough bit on the
underside where feet could have broken off? It could very well be a crude copy - Ive really no
idea - and my dad cant remember where it got it from - but thanks everyone for your input

Before the war, it was common for owners to use their own mascots on their cars, so you might never be able to identify what car it came from- the original owners might have fitted it to several cars
