Well its a sad day Mrs Flaky has decided that she no longer wants her BGT and so it is time to sell up,

We have had the car parked up for a few months as I was planning on fixing a few things but what with putting in a new kitchen it has slipped down the priorities, apparently somewhere to cook is more important!

Now my question is that the following is wrong with the car (that I am aware of anyway)

passenger side rear hub leaking
water pump gasket is leaking (typical just put in a new radiator, knew I should have done it whilst it was off!)
fuel line (approx 3 inches from fuel pump) is leaking
Could do with new batteries

Now with these and a few other bits and bobs (maybe a new ignition coil and or distributor, makes a lovely clicking noise on start up) it would probably set me back £1000 to get her MOT'd and nice again, is it worth me finding the grand or just selling her as is, its a lovely solid car for someone, uprated brakes, cam, etc etc. But I just can't decided which is the best option as it breaks my heart seeing her a touch neglected whilst the kitchen rumbles on for a few more months!

cheers for your opinions

shame

You might not recover the costs, but a car with a current MOT will be easier to sell, no doubt- the buyer wont have to mess around with a trailer, etc etc etc. Besides, they will always be thinking "what else is wrong"

An MOT removes all of these questions.

To be perfectly honest not thought too much about it, if she was all fixed up would try and sell her for about 3K at the moment, with the issues, no MOT more likely put her up at around the 1K mark I would think.

She is getting a good valet and t-cut this weekend so might post up a classified next week.

Even at MGOC workshop prices that should not be £1000! Where are you in the country, there are a number of decent garages that could sort those issues out.
