A mate of mine has a 1969 Cortina MKII and the original steel chromed Rostyle wheels are a bit tired.

Does anyone know of anywhere that can refurbish them? or possibly do them on an exchange basis?

TIA

I Dont know if they are the same size but you can get exchange rostyles from MG owners club www.mgownersclub.co.uk

However with a bit of care quite easy to refurb your self.

MGB PCD = 4 x 4.5-inches - wheels 14-inch diameter.
Ford PCD = 4 x 4.25-inches - wheels 13-inch diameter.

Thx for that, I wasn't sure myself. So that rules out most of the 'Rostyles' for sale on Ebay then. frown

Try a company called "Spit and polish" there based near Maidstone Kent, and i think they charge about 30 quid a wheel..... they come back like brand new.....

They also list DIY 5-wheel refurb kits for £45.

I am abit puzzled, how do the diy. kits do the crome bits on the wheels?

Bud, get the wheels powder coated. The crome bits can be done to look like real crome.

Cheers for replies guys.

I know of the paint finishes available. I actually have my own mobile refurbishment business - www.xpressalloys.com, that's why he came to me originally.

But my mate was hoping to get them done to original condition. ie: Centres chrome plated and the inserts painted satin black. The rims are painted grey and have a seperate stainless steel band, but apparently these are quite easy to obtain.

I tell him it wouldn't be cheap!!

Thanks again

I can vouch for Spratleys work , the centres have to be split from the rims so its better to supply him the rivvetted type rather than the welded together type then they seal and pressure test them however the balance is never the same as a factory wheel so you will probably end up with a couple better suited to the rear of the car , when you think of the cost of after market alloy wheels the costs aren,t unreasonable.

Mk2 Cortina Rostyle wheels came in three types - fully chromed , centre chrome or just painted , if Spratleys doing them you may as well get them fully chromed rather than using the after trims , they just look a lot better IMO.
