Anyone help !!

I’m looking for a simple guide to rebuild an Austin A series engine (in-line), simple step by step instructions, I have various Vizard books and even though they are great, they’re too detailed. It’s my first rebuild and I would like to get it right…

Can anyone recommend a website or printed matter…

Kind regards
Matt

Although not in a mini, it would be worthwhile asking the same question over on the old mini forum. There are some very knowledgable and friendly people over there.

Similar response to above, but any good Mini restoration book should have a chapter on rebuilding the a series engine

the vizard 'bible' is good but mind numingly complicated, have a look for the des hamill 'how to power tune the 998' thats a lot more simple and offers some good tuning and build tips

I know it's not a mini, but the light blue haynes manual for the mini has an excellent chapter on rebuilding the engine, perhaps the MG midget/A35/Morris Minor manual has a similar chapter.

Post over in the Mini forum - if you mark it FAO Cooperman hopefully he will give you some tips.

The Haynes MG Midget and Austin Healey Sprite manual will help you do a good job

Not perfect

but will suffice

The Haynes Midget book does also have 1500 Triumph engine stuff in too so you need to be sure what page you open up to after that cuppa tea

Out of interest what's it in? I grew up on A & B series engines, they are good easy to work on engine with no difficult suprises. You'll enjoy it...
