Hi I thought this would be the most apprp[riate section to ask some questions abou the classic car storage market.

Firstly im not advertising in anyway im just looking for peoples thoughts, opinions and experiences of classic car storage.

Im thinking of setting up a car storage business in the Aberdeen area primarily aiming it at the classic car market, i have done a fair bit of research and on average i would say the cost is around £20-35/week, I would be looking to offer the carcoon style storage system.

Would this be something that classic car owners would consider and do those prices seem the norm?

TIA

Kind regards
gav

Gav, are you supplying the carcoons? If so I think you are slightly too cheap. Firstly there is the electricty costs, then insurance upon the building and the contents and finally the rent / ownership costs of the facility. What bout security and who is going to keep the cars ready for usage? Will the battery's be on charge 24/7 with a CK style charger and what about tyres (tyre shoes) and also covers of peopel do not want to use a carcoon?

I know of a firm in Bucks who charge £22 a week plus VAT for a covered heated barn, but carcoons, CK chargers and the associated 24/7 for serious security and classics is a whole different ballgame. If somebody turned up with an F40 or a 1950's Bugatti could you afford the cars insurance premium??

I kept my Mustang in a barn with another 79 or so lovely cars and paid around £80 a month. That was the basic price which ensured the car was kept ready to go on 24 hours notice. Tyre shoes were offered at a discount price to buy and anything else: carcoons, exercising the car, valeting, etc were extra. The monthly amount did include insurance but that would have only been a benefit if I'd taken the car off the road.

Edited to add: Have a look at what owners are currently paying and what they're paying for, and then work out your unique offering.
