What do people think of these as an ownership prospect and future classic?

Do you reckon they're going down still, levelling out, starting to go up, or already gone?

Don't know about values. I loved my S1 111s on smooth tarmac. I hated it in heavy traffic, or on typical britsh potholed roads. I found it a bit of a pain to live with re access, space, etc..but with new rack, suspension, ball joints, geo, etc..etc..it was sublime fun. I think I'd probably go caterfield route if ever I wanted another impracticle road racer though. I think S1 Exige will do well re future values + extra power should add to the occasion and those looks!

Values are certainly strong and I can see them getting stronger. I love them to bits and will (hopefully) be getting myself one in the not too distant future again.

Actually if I do decide to go ahead with one I suspect I'll be knocking on your door! I think you guys are my nearest Lotus specialists still.

Last thing I saw you were cruising around in a 2 Eleven - lucky git! smile

I recently brought one, I’m usually more into classic cars but this time the Elise ticked all the boxes. I wanted something that was fun to drive and easy to maintain – but also something technically different / advanced and the Elise is certainly all of this.

If you’re handy with the spanners or classic car minded, eg fix the little problems yourself, or be prepared to pay for proper maintenance then you will not be disappointed.

For sure it’s a classic, prices will only go up, running costs are not far off that of a MGB and if you want to save on Lotus prices just look for where the part originated from..

Cheers Matt

Right, I'm not in the market for one right now, but which of these should I be looking at?
Theree seem to be a lot of variations on a theme......

I think the newer versions of the Elise are - heavier, I know - more comfy to drive.

S1 111S is a good compromise between what some consider underpowered standard car and more highly strung Sport 160's etc..Depends what you want I guess?
