Hi all,

I'm looking at promoting my services in classic car magazines. Which magazines do you read and which ones are considered the most popular? I only ask as I am not familiar with these publications having only read a couple of issues of Classic Cars Magazine.

Many thanks

Amar

What is the service you are offering, they range in price and market they are aimed at. I read MotorSport and Octane which are aimed at the more sporting reader however Practical Classics is equally good just aimed at restoring different types of cars. What's your market?

Thanks for the feedback. We provide classic car transportation services and I have noticed our competitors advertise in transport and storage sections. I would be looking to try it for a while and see if there are any real results.

Well I expect the average Practical Classics reade would borrow a trailer and move it himself so you'd be better looking at the more glossy mags.

I'm a mag junkie (cheaper than recreational chemicals, but more difficult to justify to the missusboxedin): the ranking I reckon is Octane (Ferrari & Rolex), then C&S & Classic Cars (big bucks + everyman stuff), then the other two deal with the MGB etc market. HTH

I'd agree with that. But why limit to clasics? Are there modern show cars which would need professional transportation between shows??? The high-end modified cars, fore xample, where the owners happily spwend £30K on a mainstream car, they might spend more to get it to a show in one piece, perhaps?

it isn't just the major magazines that you should consider contacting but also many of the specific marque classic dealers who transport cars all over Europe for owners. I recently arranged transport of a Lotus Elise from scotland to Hampshire for a Frenchman for example. Many have their established contacts but it is worth a try. I assume you have a proper covered trailer by the way. My favourite magazines are Octane and C & SC in that order. The cheaper end deal in cars in the low £1,000s so people won't pay major transport costs.

Correct sir and your advice is duly noted, the vehicle is indeed enclosed, without sounding like an advertisement here's a Riley that we moved last Friday.

Can't be a unique position that I'm in...........always, ALWAYS looking for a good, reliable, concentious transport firm to recommend to client's.
I'd be more inclined to email & ring around specialists rather than advertise.
I've found that the best form of advertising is word of mouth (you might have gathered - we don't advertisebiggrin)

Good luck, Al.
