The other day my mum came accross four mint door cappings and dash for my old 1600E Cortina which have languished for the last 20 odd years on the top of her spare room wardrobe. Now, I haven't seen them, but remember they were one of the first things that were properly restored in my aborted rebuild of the car and the only things that survive.

So, should I sell them (and where) and how do you value them? They are the wood door tops and wood dash for the series 2 and are absolutely pristine, not a mark on them, truly concours.

Any help greatly appreciated, it would be a shame for them to languish another 20 years!

Even rough condition 1600E parts go for good money on E Bay , if your cappings are truly mint , and that means if they have been re-varnished must be a really deep coat then are highly desirable , the important thing with the dash is straightness as they warp over time. There was a time when they went for a pittance , not so now , if you list on e bay always aim to end around 10pm on a Sunday night , plan ahead see whats on TV a week ahead , don't clash with Top Gear !

Thanks for the advice, I hate ebay though. I just think it's full of chancers and conmen now. Not what it was set up for at all. Plus the postage/delivery would be a nightmare.

You could try the buysell Cortina website http://www.buysellcortina.co.uk/forums/index.php?a...

probably need to register/ask permission to post the ad with the site monitors.

Thanks Red, I've registered. Once I've inspected the cappings and any other bits, I'll post them up there. thumbup
