I take it by the use of the word "skool" that your definition of "old" differs somewhat from others on this forum...http://www.runboard.com/boldskoolpower

Hey give the lad a break will you! Once our classics were new cars and if ever you've turned up at a VSCC meeting in something post war and felt the chill then you'll understand. We all have to start somewhere and it is heartwarming to see a youngster (well, you're all youngsters to me - lol) taking an interest. If not, where is the future of our movement?
Trouble is, I click on the link and it tells me I haven't the right to enter

The OP came on here with a polite invitation and doesn't deserve to get sgged by stuck up gits like the first few posters.
Please sort the link so those of us with more open minds can take a look.

While I despair slightly at this chap's grammar and use of that odious colloquialism "skool", I am delighted to see a fellow youngster enthuse about old cars. I am infinitely fascinated by old cars and would hope not to suffer any discrimination from older enthusiasts due to my tender(ish) years (not to mention my modern, chavvy car). I applaud his efforts, and as a child of the 1980s, I think that is an entirely relevant period to be discussed. Plenty of classics were born out of Group A and Group B homologation after all...

Carefull there, we'll get into the "what's a classic debate" Thinking about it, wasn't 'old skool' a bit of a hotrod term, or did I imagine that?

im sorry, but im neither stuckup or a git.
i am a massive classic car enthuisast ranging from the 1930's (thanks to my dads cars) through to the 60-80s, thanks to my interest in minis. i also own a classic bedford commercial.
the point i was attempting to make was that most people who use lables like 'oldskool' are fans of cars that might only be ten years old or so, not what 99% of people would class as classics or yesterday heros. the fact that the website didnt work was only funnier in my eyes.
id certainly have a look at the site (i go on retro rides a lot) when its working

I seem to remember Aretha Franklin (or similar, memory fails) on stage once in the 1980's making the comment before she sang a song that "one day, for our children, these will be the good old days". I would have love to have grown up in the 1930's but was not born until the mid-40s so my era is the 50s and 60s but it is important to have youngsters who have a passion for what to them are "old cars". Just as a well-tended plant will blossom then with the right encouragement they too will become the curators of our pride and joys. I don't like the current attitude of "what's it worf" rather than "what'll it do mister" but I still take the time to talk to them and explain as much as I can to those who suddenly realise that they are looking at a piece of history from their grandfather's time. I know of one who has become deeply immersed in classic cars as a result of coming on his bike to our regular monthly meetings and is now a club member at 17 yrs. So from acorns do giant oaks grow. That site may at the moment have Golfs and BMWs but if it grows then one day it might contain "the right cars, if such a thing exists. A for effort young man, and may it become a great success. At least you have tried.
I agree 'A' for effort and may your hardwork pay off. Obviously we where all born in different decades (1961) so we all have a slightly different perspective on what is a classic car. "old skool" I think is an american term, "resto mod" is another term the americans like to use that I cannot stand.
