My friend recently bought a 1988 golf 1.3 on book and has vr6 conversion... For some apparent reason he wants to put a supercharger in it!! Can anybody tell me wat needs to be done to cooling systems etc in order to manage this upgrade>?

Thanks...

I think you might get more response in another section - general gassing? ~Technical?

Although 88 is getting toward classic most of the discussion on here is pre 1970, and we think an 88 Golf is quite modern! Yes, I know, we're geting old wink

As a MK2 owner myself, I reckon your best bet is to go to a Golf owners club website as the forums are bloody handy and will have specialist knowledge.

If the cooling system has been uprated to use the vr6 rad (either 2.8 vr or Corrado 2.9 twin fans) it will cope fine mate. To save space (and weight) you can ditch the bulky fan set ups and use a single 11" spal fan.

Next upgrade would be to use an oil cooler, especially if using on a track. mine would show oil temps of 120 after only 10 mins of hoofing it.

Hiya Matey,

Don't know whereabouts you are but I'd suggest checking out www.vr6oc.co.uk for general info, it's all on there.

Or if you're in the South East I'd definately recommend you go and visit The Phirm, ask for Paul there he's ace. http://www.thephirm.co.uk

Cheers Chap
