In about 1980/81, I went to look at a house for sale in Orlando Florida. The home was was being sold by a recently widowed old lady. In the garage was a large car under a sheet, her late husbands car. I asked if I could take a peek. Under the sheet was one of those, in mint condition, in an off white Lilac Pinky colour. It was fantastic, and I would have liked to have bought it, but I'd just acquired a '73 Eldorado convertible.

I'm not sure you could now with the drastic drop of the pound against the dollar.

Decent 61-64 Lincoln ragtop's are in the $25-40k bracket in the USA, so £15k all ready in the UK, is pretty good value now IMHO.

61's are the first year and rarest, and had a slightly different front grille bumper compared to the 62-64's.

Could be very expensive if the electrics aren't right. Other than that it's just fuel, most other bits will be available via US specialists so shouldn't be that bad.

Unless you have a BIG garage, then no it won't fit in a standard UK garage, and I wouldn't keep one outside. I've seen too many late 50's early 60's yanks fall apart from owners being forced to keep them outside.

Thanks, that's better. Won't fit in the garage. Cerb only just squeezes in.

The electrics can't be that much of a nightmare surely? Early 60's is going to be fairly straight forward, no?

Good addition to the taxi fleet for a wedding car with a difference methinks. The colour is brilliant for that.

Just got to persuade the bank it's a good idea wink
