Very nice..

I am a good friend of a taxi driver working out of Malta airport who has a white one, bought at one year old....now 24 years old and covered 400,000 miles, still looks and drives like new....was in it last week in fact.............

I've had more 123s than I care to remember.

I had a 1979 300D with over 800k on it with original runing gear. It was a shed but you can't really blame it having taken that sort of stick.

I had another 230E last year - a 1983 model. That was LPG converted and had done just over 400k when I sold it. It had covered the last 150k of its miles in the last 3 years. Amazing for an old car to cover those mileages at that age. That one was battered though!

typical merc driver - its over two spaces hehe

looks damn tidy for its age & just about run in at those miles too. very nice, it makes my W124 look like a shed.

It's got a FMSH - it's never missed a 6k service the whole of its life. On top of the regular servicing it's had £1000s spent on it, including nigh on £4000 spent on getting the body back to almost new as it is now!

I'm the 3rd owner with the 1st owner (and spender of the money) owning it from new to late last year. 2nd owner bought it, serviced and waxoiled it before doing 200 miles in it over his 6 months of ownership!

Now she's mine and in proper, daily use. Not bad on fuel either.

Love the W123 series

One of the best ol' buses I've ever had

Often think about getting another - only trouble is I'd have to sell something else first as I'm totally spaced out!

sounds great mate. my 124 is on 178k with indy history to 155k. looks like nothing to 172k when i got it & due its 2nd service by me now. tatty body on mine though & it doesnt look as ageless as a 123.
great barges though arent they? thumbup

still might sell mine next year though, as i really dont use it. it sits there till the two days of snow/frost when i dont use the bike & thats about all.

(can you tell where i got it from?)

It all ended after the 124.

There's little to match them in the build quality stakes. So tight to drive too. Mine drives better and feels tighter than my Mr's new seat ibiza. She prefers to use the 123

I had a 124 300E 24v sportline. Regret selling that motor.

Bought mine 4 years old with 12,000 on the clock and sold it with 230,000. Only one strange problem - the camshaft snapped, luckily at only 2,000 revs (160,000 miles) and only bent a valve. I am now on a year 2000 C220 CDi estate at 110,000 and still on the original battery. Since passing 100,000 it seems run in because the fuel consumption has improved substantially to an average of 37mpg on a run. Still a good 10 years left in it I reckon.

It's better built than the Mrs' 2001 E 320CDI estate then.
I hardly washed in for the first 5 years because everytime it went back for them to fix again the dealer valeted the thing. One year it broke down so often MB paid for the extended warrantee for us. Now having spent most of it's life being garaged every night, it's rusting to bits like a seventies Lancia. We are on the 3rd tail gate and have had 2 new front wings and had the door skins replaced on both the back doors. The driver from the body shop said they'd just finished changing every panel on a pair of S600s apart from the roofs, which were newer than our Merc. I frequently wish we had a W123 instead from when "German Engineering" meant something.

My old man has a 270CDI and it's no better built than a ford - probably worse actually. It's only about 3 yrs old and is already looking worn inside and has had some warranty work done for rust. It's only done about 7k miles too, and kept garaged.
