The many decent classics i saw this summer - some images
Discussion
now the nights are getting longer, its time to reflect on a few of the tastier classics i saw, admired & snapped this past summer
its been busier car show wise for me this summer than previously and thus its time i took the time to go through the many pics i have amassed and share a few of the more unusual and interesting classics here
starting off with the Shuttleworth Classic pilgrimage & display from drizzly early May, the weather was a tad gloomy, but the crowds & cars were far from it!,
take this fabulous, 220SE Merc for starters!, a "proper" Merc IMO all stately and solid
elegant....what a shape
fine Ginetta G15...
... in with the Imp's displaying its buzzy, rear mounted Coventry Climax in all its glory!
rare welsh bred, Gilbern Genie
big pointers to the Ford bloodline with this, running peppy Escort power too IIRC, a fine find for the keen eye
nice Big Healey 3000 in front too!
speaking of 'Scorts!
a fine example of the legendary Escort Mexico rally reprobate!
pure pocket rocket power!
enjoy and please do check back, i have plenty more and i'll update in installments!

thanks guys!
so a few more then!,
another very presentable Merc was this fine 280SL
fans of vintage metal might apreciate this then, a peculiar sight among the other classic Renaults/french bred!
one of my fave snaps from that day, nice Magnette with a very tidy Velox in the background!
one more of the Magnette, i like these!....
going back to amazing shapes a moment!
a fine Marcos 1700GT complete with a firey 1700 Ford lump and an all wood chassis
just look at those swoopy bulging lines, theres nothing quite like this era of Marcos IMO!
a peek inside, good low slung driving position and plenty functonal too
more again soon!

Hate to be picky when you've posted such fine photos, but the Ginetta is a G15, and the early Marcoses were fitted with 4-cyl Volvo engines (that's not to say it's NOT since been fitted with a Ford X-flow - you saw the car, I didn't ).
thanks for the ammendment G32 was the one with the Fiesta components IIRC?i spoke briefly to the chap with the Marcos (saw it again the day after this show at the start of a road rally too!) and IIRC he said it was one of the last models and he or the original owner had to push them to fit the X Flow in it
did sound very nice tho'

Pretty stuff James, keep 'em coming.
cheers Afew more then?!
just a window sticker, but it kind of embodied the spirit of the show and the type of owners i met there that day
this was a peach!
a very pretty and very genuine Fiat Dino, love these!
proper classics packing big Cubes, 'Ceptor and SV8 side by side
a fine driver, very nice original Elan
there were many nice Loti to see that day and this Europa was among one of the most decent!
tiny thunder indeed!
another installment to come, 'tis nice to have something to update of an evening!

cheers
that FIAT was indeed gorgeous, a credit to its owner!
more classic yum,
various F car rumps, 308 GTS, Mondial and 355 Berlinetta, a lovely sight!
big time muscle, 'Stang 'Vert with 7 litres of rampant mo town madness!
interesting Skoda rally car near the Moggies, Al you saw this one at the Ace IIRC too?
loved this fine Rapier (a proper one!) this area of the show was great to mooch around in, classic british saloons
another tasty old Vauxhall, note the Cresta badging on the flanks, this is a Velox body isn't it? (quite familiar with the PA onwards Cresta's)
this really caught my eye, about time i found out a bit more about it, can anyone help?!
Renault Caravelle IIRC
the ultimate credit crunch car! Pontiac Bonneville, all 18 odd foot of it!
more yanks and a few italians to come...
oh and if anybody would like to see a few more additional pics of any of the cars posted i'd be happy to post a few more

Anymore information on this? I'm still not sure what model it is.

Not sure if this helps on the Carvelle.
pleased you like 'em guys, cheers for the info on the Caravelle too, kinda like a french MGB in some ways i guess!
onwards!,
another fab little thing, Giulia Super 1.3 in tip top condition...
as was this parked next to it! a lovely pair
lovely original 7, owner took real pride in it
this old Bristol was rather intriguing, a novel way of storing the spare wheel!
speaking of Bristols, i loved this example, majestic in an unconventional way!
striking SP250 "Dart" broke up the crowd of Healeys and Jags nicely!
Rovers next methinks!...

think i'll put the Rovers up seperately, so heres a few more nice bits from the Shuttleworth showground,
still a tidy and useable old workhorse, very nice A40, don't think i've seen one since...
must see a bit of action, a fine early Spit!
a different kind of grunt coming out of this field!
351 equipped mean mutha 'Stang, lovely thing!
Mach the Mustang, nice pair of late 70's Mach 1's
how pretty?!... a fine "euro 'Vette" Opel GT
not the most exalted or exotic perhaps but i do like a nice Karmann Ghia!
more later
