The Montreal V8 is a de-tuned version of the Tipo 33 engine IIRC wink

I believe some 33's had an engine similar to the one used in the Montreal, but others had a different V8 that had little in common with the Montreal and far more in common with the DFV. There was a company local to me who ran a couple of 33's for their lucky owners. A group of us were treated to a good look around them a few years back, the noise when one was started up I can still remember!
