Next year a bunch of us are taking our cars to toronto and then touring the north of the USA to take in the racing at Elkhart Lake and Watkins Glen. I am now starting to find out what is necessary to do this but all advice would be helpful. Here's hoping!

Tony

I'd reccomend asking on the Jag Lovers forum as most of those guys are US based.

I'm occasionally in Sacramento, CA, for work, it can get very hot so make sure cooling system is perfect.

When are you going to Road America (Elkhard Lake)?

We're hoping to get there for the 40th aniversary of Formula Ford in NA on July 24-26/2009. Should be a big turn out of cars.

Drop me a line if you'll be around then.

A large group of Sevens went over there about two years ago and apparently had a brilliant time, but there were serious problems with shipping. Have a search through the Blatchat archives to avoid the same problems. Like on here you can PM any of the posters by clicking the envelope icon on each posting.

The JCNA might have some pointers
Are you hoping to take the C out?

Paperwork will be a nightmare.

I know a few guys that were planning on taking their hot rods back over to take part in Speedweek at Bonneville, but they were encountering some headaches with insurance and license plate arrangements. I think they were starting to look at not driving them on public roads and trailering them to the salt instead to avoid the hassle, if they decide to ship them over. Be interested to see how you get on with arrangements and what you come up with.

Yes, the idea is to take the new C type and also a couple of other replicas perhaps lending my short nose D type to a friend. I know people who have done it and have researched the internet and they say it isn't too much of a problem - but we'll see!

As someone else suggested try popping over to Jag lovers. I suspect that there are some people over there that have done it and their might be some people who can help point you in the right direction. I'd certainly think some of the people over there would be interested in you project.

I think there is also a fairly regular tour out there of real Cs and Ds, given the uniqueness of your project and the people involved the people who organise that might be interested and as I said the Jaguar Club out there might like to see the car at an event and so might be able to point you in the right direction. Hasn't CKL ever helped his customers send cars out to the US for events?
