Spotted on the back of a recovery truck, just outside Hawthorns by the station.
Caught a fleeting glimpse as it went past but looked quite smart, assuming its a replica? Anyone know anything about the car? BRG with competition 'off white' roundels and a luggage rack...

I guess it's heading down to Goodwood ready for XK60 this weekend and given the whether Graham didn't fancy driving it down. If you saw it in Farnham, it wasn't far from home.
It was the original XKSS, the New York show car, converted from XKD555
In both the shot's it can be seen with XKD535. I took these shots at the XK-Club trackday last year. I thought it was due to be there this year too, but it wasn't. I know it's due at Goodwood for the weekend though.
It's a stunning toy.
I`m sure I saw XKS5 at Surrey Street Rodder`s Wheel`s Day about 5 years ago when the event was held on the Brooklands runway, pre MB-World - it was patinated in a way that just couldn`t be painted-on as is the fashion these days, and parked out of the way, not joining in with the main display. A highlight of the day and so unassuming. Was it subsequently at Racing Green?

Sorry Lowdrag,
Your right, it's the Lynx in the pit lane, I grabbed the wrong shot. Quite some run about, but oh boy is she quick in it. She took me out for a session around the circuit in it. Very impressive, feels totally different to the D CKL had just taken me for a spin in.
Incidentally the D in the other shot is now back into it's original colour and shape and looking really good, I was a bit worried when I was told what colour it was going to be painted but it works really well. The owner was saying the clutch is need of replacement, but he still comfortably lapped me on the track.
Also sorry I missed you yesterday, CKL said you were there. I'm not going to make it today, got to try and finish some work off.

Sorry A8HEX, but one of your staements is incorrect. The leading D type in pit lane is the sister car to mine, chassis 45 Lynx D! I know the owners well and it's his wife's runabout.
OK so I got the wrong picture before, this is the one I meant to postThe charming owner of the little run about is there too.

Ah, so it was genuine! So very cool! Goodwood looks to have been fab - unfortunately I spent the weekend at The Oval with clients. Shame.
Sounds like it was out on the track on the Saturday. Unfortunately I was stuck at home working and was forced to miss it. Particularly sad as I was due to win a trip around the track with Sir Stirling or Norman Dewis. Still the owner of the XKSS took me for a spin in his XK150 race car on the Friday - Mine doesn't go like that. I sure doesn't stop like that!Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
