Thanks Albert
You can try looking at http://www.xk150.org for a few more pictures. From the main site there are just links to the pictures of the JEC Southern Day last year. Not just XKs (look D-Types are XKs alright!) there was a 50s area so there pictures of saloons too. Not as good as your pictures sorry, but the weather wasn't ideal.

Here, that's cheating. That one had me going for a second, it's all the wrong way round.
Then I realised that's not an XK, so pardon my ignorance, but what is it? Other than rather pretty.
(only the early DB4 had twin SU, the rest (and DB5/6/S had three carbs of either SU or Weber. The series 1 has a rear opening bonnet, so that makes it a series 2). Where's my anorak???
I bought my XK120 in immaculate freshly-restored condition for 30k a few years ago and spent almost exactly the same amount on upgrading it.
Modified front steering geometry, rack and pinion, rear telescopics,4.0 litre engine,5 speed box,LSD,Improved cooling system and alloy radiator, alternator, starter motor, wipers, seats, wheels and tyres, louvered bonnet etc. etc.
The difference in driving was chalk and cheese. The steering/suspension changes in particular completely transformed the car but it still looked period.
My friend owned an uprated XK150 roadster at the same time (from a reputable company) with a very high spec. and it was hopeless compared to the 120 (even he agreed) There are a lot of uprated cars that really don't work and you have to be careful to get it right.
One of the nicest cars I've owned.
Sold to finance yet another project ...

Ken, it was the start of a rally and there was not much light available. Slow shutterspeeds give nice effects eh?
Yeah it really works on this shot, gives it so much life. It looks like a pretty shot focal length and a wide aperture too. Nice control of the depth of focus to further emphasise the car. That's normally hard to do at that sort of focal length.Nice one.
Cheers Ken, my first day out with the newly purchased Olympus, June '06.
Nothing sharp on the shot one but I love it. I was in - as in 'in'! - the hard shoulder to try and grab some cars at 1/30 something! A beautifull lane with quite a few big houses - some nice modern cars in front -and a great start to begin a rally. I was navigator in a TR4, truck of a thing BTW . . .
A few entries later a mint Big Healey crashed an X5 who 'parked out', folks were in shock . . .
The red 3500GT storming to the right (remember the Aston vs Masser topic) was taken on the other side of this road.
More snaps of that particular rally here.
Last weekend of May they go again, so this weekend. Not for me this time, being busy and all.
Did you manage to pull some friends for the 10th? Would be great to meet.
