I am think of buying a car that has come over from America via France, it has not been reistered in France. Does anyone know the name of the French certificate to prove that duty has been paid in France?
Well, VAT in french is TVA. It depends on the age of the car as to whether tax is payable as well as the VAT. If it hasn't been paid in France, then I suggest you have the car imported into the UK and pay VAT in England - it's 17.5% as opposed to 19.6% in France.
