CKL, XK Club, E-Type Club and JEC trackday at Goodwood
Discussion
I went to the Goodwood track day yesterday, organised by CKL for the XK & E-Type clubs and the JEC.
This year unfortunately (from my point of view) it was a mixed day where as last year they had separate days for those new fangled E-Types and for XKs.
The weather turned out to be great.
There was an interesting turn out of cars.
As well as my XK150 FHC which returned to the road finally shortly before midnight on Monday.
There was at least one XK120, sorry I didn't manage a good picture of this one.
A few XK140s and XK150s.
Sadly no C-types arrived and the XKSS I though was going wasn't.
There were however 4 D-Types, one an original, it might be familiar to some of you, particularly if you saw Octane a couple of months back. Two Lynxes, one should be familiar to at least one of the denizens of this group. I didn't get to find out which the other one was. Sadly I missed getting a picture of the four of them all sitting in a line, the dark green one was only parked with the others for a very short while before moving off to park in one of the bays.
A Cougar
Several light weight E-Types
and then several more Es.
Oh yes and a rather nice, but noisy, replica XJ13 which has featured on Pistonheads before. It's the Rod Jolley one that used to sit in Racing Green's showroom when I bought my toy.
There will be some video to follow when I've edited it down.

a fantastic and seriously tasty selection of metal there, nice snaps too
that XJ13 rep looks great IMO, i always loved that shape
love the D's and the lightweight E too!
looking forward to the vid
The XJ13 is supposed to look pretty damn close to the real thing, except in the engine bay where the is a distinct lack of cam shafts. The real one used twin OVH cams per bank with the inlet between the cams. I'm sure Lowdrag will be along soon to fill in all the rest of the details. that XJ13 rep looks great IMO, i always loved that shape

I had arranged to lend my video equipment and camera mounting to the guy driving that lightweight E, unfortunately his exhaust gave up before he could take me up on the offer.

Those XK's are all stunning! Looked like a good day out
Looking at the nice toys made for a great day out.Playing with my toy on the track was even better
Was almost maxing the car out at the braking point for "no name", only saw higher revs on the Lavant once, and hey straights are boring, drifting at over the ton is much better. Don't you just love skinny cross plies.
Hmm, ever heard of the story of getting egg on your face? Looking through the photos I see my old blue Lynx D which had the number 60 KV which I kept when I sold the car. I spent 6 months getting the DVLA to sell 6 OKV so I'd have a matching pair for my cars here but at the auction last October got outbid. Now I see it was the new owner of my old D type who shot me in the foot. Ah well.
The ex Jim Clark car is so beautifully painted. I have a photo of it here taken last year when it was still BRG and the patina they've created in the new paint is outstanding. She certainly doesn't look as though she was repainted last September.
Finally the XJ13. Lovely, but I've yet to see a replica that even from a distance could fool me - they all get the body line wrong just a tad, even Walter Hill's old car in the USA wasn't quite right. The rear haunches seem too angular; they don't flow like the original. These shots taken at the press launch of the new XK several years back.

Fantastic photos, thanks for sharing.
I was given a ride in a Proteus D-type a few years back. I can remember every second. One day i;ll have a D-type replica. Short nose, maybe even without the fin.
Last year I managed to beg a ride in a both a Lynx and a Jaguar D. CKL took me around in XKD535, what an experience. I was given a ride in a Proteus D-type a few years back. I can remember every second. One day i;ll have a D-type replica. Short nose, maybe even without the fin.
