yes, went in 2006 and it was great but not sure its worth trying to do it in a day.......its nowhere as big as Techno Classica Essen but it always has unusual stuff and unlike the Birmingham show, the food and drinks available are good and the atmosphere special, and its a classic show with style.....you could easily spend the whole day at the show and its not that hard to get to if i remember as i took the metro( seem to remember you buy 10 metro tickets in a "carnet", i cant speak a word of french so some other PHs may help here, but you use each ticket for any trip, not like the tube) but i would think that to make it worthwhile you need to stay over in Paris one night...incidentally there was some great automobilia stuff for sale but pricey and the artwork ( esp sculptures) on show were amazing and there is always some cars and things that you do not see anywhere else so its well worth it....but like all shows can be tiring so to try and do the travel as well, is, i think ,too much and you miss out on a great dinner in the Latin Quarter!
I've been several times since the early 90's (my dad has a french vintage car, so we went for bits). we used to go on special coach trips driving through the night at a cost of about £25-£30 including entry, but the chap who was organising it (Niel Engert) stopped doing coaches, so last time we went on Eurostar.
we stayed overnight in a friends place in london and got the early train (about 6ish from memory) then got the metro across paris, had a great day at the show, and back again that evening.
one tip, take food with you, or buy from shops outside, as the food/drink inside is very expensive.
otherwise enjoy the trip, and you should see some brilliant cars that you may not generally see in the UK.
