It should not be too hard to find one, I looked at the market for a couple of years, missed mine, then got another chance at it 6 months later.I believe from what has been written in the classic press that coupe cars are closing in on the value of open cars.
I'd have thought JDC and JEC worth joining, I'm not sure about the E type club, looks more like a business than a club to me. If you would settle for a left hooker to swap over then ebay US would be a start. There's a chap called Chapel End Cars often offering a down at heel E.
There is always ebay....that's where mine came from.
thanks for that. I am a member of JDC, JEC and E Type club and am familiar with all the dealers including the Chapel End guy. Maybe being a bit hopeful but was hoping to uncover a privately owned car. I agree with the FHC closing on the open cars, to be honest for me they are the one to have. Keep hopeful
I found mine at one of the well known dealers who were selling it for a client - body was great and rest needed work. We rebuilt the engine, replaced all the brakes etc etc and a complete overhaul.
Being a fhc there wasn't much interest (about 6 years ago) and people said I was mad to buy a 3.8! But it's not a bad little car and having made it a bit faster it's more fun.

I think Lowdrag has one?
Just looked on the members fleet, dozens it seems!
I've had my flat floor roadster for 27 years and over 100,000 miles and no, it isn't for sale! Too many memories! However, may I suggest the OP contacts John Burton, Chairman of the JDC E type register who may well know of a car for sale. We saw one yesterday in Sussex but it wasn't for sale unfortunately. He can be contacted evenings on 02380 619033. Best of luck.
Sorry for a mild hi-jack but what are 4.2 series 1.5 FHC making now ? My brother has one "tucked away" gently deteriorating. It is duck egg blue but paint is not the best. Had a current mot up until last year. Quietest 4.2 I ever heard with great oil pressure.
Went to SA new came back with my brother around 7 years ago. I think it is on an F or G plate with larger rear lights but is not a 2+2 or Series 3 ??
Cheers

Sounds like a series 2 since it will have no headlamp covers, a different bonnet, sidelights under the front bumper, rear lights under the bumper too and much bigger, a central "square" rear number plate and twin exhausts coming out either side of the rear plate. Frankly one of the best E types because of better brakes and cooling but sadly it is the series 1 every one wants since the appearance is more delicate. A FHC (not 2+2) would be worth £10/15K from the information you give but as always it will depend on the condition since E types rot like hell underneath, especially the rear suspension mounting points and the sills.
