My cars heater motor packed up on me yesterday.

Have, after a lot of trouble removed the complete motor and heater/AC matrix assembly.

Connected a booster set directly across the pos & neg wires going into the fan motor - dead.

Is there anyone that repairs these as I'm not sure where Mr De Tomaso sourced these from so have no idea where to even start looking for a possible replacement

Any contacts out there?

When you wish to test a motor/bulb or relay that is from a car and you plan to use a booster pack as a supply of 12 volts you should have a battery between the red and black leads of the booster, a battery has a internal resistance and without which you run the chance of damaging the part you are testing.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, cant help with someone to fix it, in Southampton there was a firm called Auto General Electrical Service, they would have been able to repair a motor, not sure if they still exist, any decent motor rewind firm should be able to do it.

Ben

Hi Stephen,

I've found a couple of motor rewinders and will first give them a call in the morning.

Thanks anyway for the contact.

As a guess, I'd say a FIAT 124 biggrin

Probably not...

Hi Andy,

It would not surprise me. However, I could not wait long enough to go down that route.

Visited a motor rewinders in Luton today.

They can handle the job and will look at it tomorrow.

While my whole heater unit and radiator matrix is out I'll take said matriz to Serck or similar tomorrow for a flush out and pressure test to see if there's any gremlins lurking there. I imagine it's this systems forst service since the car was made in 79.

Matrix handles AC gas + hot water for the heater. A maze of copper tubes and a plumbers nightmare I'm sure.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Can they up-grade it?
(Always worth considering!)

The car was made in 79.

Nearly 30 years good service is not bad!
