Seems to be a very misused term. Went to look at a Rover P6 with a mate this morning advertised as such. He had been told it needed an engine rebuild a new master cylinder and new brake pipes. What it actually needed was new door panels, new boot. Sills were full of filler (or the magnet was broken) and there was some really dodgy welding underneath. The bloke wanted £700 for it which would have been OK if it was as advertised.

"And before I come to see it, do you promise to reimburse me for my time and fuel if it is clearly not as described?"

I often see classics advertised as 'immaculate for year'. What the hell does that mean? It's either immaculate or it isn't!

I thought I had a sound car when I handed over my car to the restorer with similar words to those smile fortunately he largely ignored me and I got a good car I am happy with and will last as a result - cost a bit more than i intended mind smile
