Hi Everyone, I wonder if there is anyone who can help with my research on a XK120 FHC. The car apparently was raced in the 50s by Rupert Arcle of Arcle Breweries, Then Monty Mostin Of Speedwell Garage fame, before passing on to a Ms Biance- Green where it was prepared for ralling. The vehicle had a large XK150 rear screen fitted during the late 50s, then converted back later. It was raced by Dave Cotterill Of DK engineering in the 60s/70s and has had a variety of registrations. The first being KAM 75
and then MM1( Monty Mostin)then on to 242 VJO when it had the large back window.
I have tried all the right books though I am open to suggestions or perhaps someone remembers it

Hi there, I have no idea if this may help, but I found:

These guys seem serious about what they do, so may be worth a look?
I do hope you find what you are looking for!

The JDC are not at all useful when it comes to racing cars. After the split and the JEC was formed the JEC carried on racing after the JDC had ceased, then to muddy the waters further the JCC was formed and I think it was Rose Eaton who was the secretary. The club folded last year but it should be easy to get in touch with a few of the old members to see if they know of the car. They in the end were more the Jaguar racing club

Thanks for the replies. I have checked it out with Paul Skilliter and found some pics of it on the track in the late 60s, when XKs were 2 bob.We think Dave Cottingham is at the wheel. Does anyone know if there is a motorsport archive out there to view?

I've checked the DVLA computer for 242 VJO and it doesn't exist. If you have the chassis number I might be able to help further though

Great though PH is, and I may be suggesting the obvious, but if you fail to get an answer here, have you thought of asking the TNF Group?

You could write a letter to the "Automobile" magazine. I have had a good response there in the past when researching one of my cars.

By co-incidence I also own an XK120 fhc raced by DK Engineering (David Cottingham) MHP 682, it was the Jaguar works demonstrator and Autocar road test car.

If you are trying to trace the history of a XK then two great fonts of knowledge would be David Bentley who contributes to the XK-Club magazine and has been cataloguing his every sighting of XKs since about 1960 I think. And also John Elmgreen who is often to be found on the XK forum of www.jag-lovers.org who also has very extensive records of every XK he can get any hear about.

If you knew the chassis number it would help a lot.

You could also try taking a look at www.xkdata.com
