Such heartening news came my way yesterday; a new circuit is being built SE of Angouleme at St. Front sur Nizonne purely for historic car racing and for track days. I phoned the owners and was warmly welcomed and learned the following:-

The local county council are fimly behind the project, and to quote the vice chairman "I don't want the Dordogne to become some sort of picture postcard holiday area, where we don't tolerate the slightest noise and where it is difficult to find work". How I wish such an attitude was present in the UK!

The final studies are nearly finished and it is hoped that the circuit will be open in 2008. Five events a year of a style and magnitude to rival Goodwood even are being planned.
