Before their race coverage started BBC TV once showed the Mike Hawthorn's 1956 lap, and then as a comparison they showed an in-car lap with Jacky Ickx driving a Porsche (956 I think) - and this was done sometime in the mid to late 1980s.

Does anybody have a link to the Jacky Ickx lap?

Best wishes all,
Dave.

At the risk of being a frightful pedant...

Observe Mike's goggles. He is wearing them around part of the circuit and then he is not. Therefore, there must have been at least two takes.

PedantHeads. Because because pedantry matters!

you spotted the goggles......but i think the slightly more obvious hint might have been the fact that there are 2 camera angles, and there are shots of the car with 2 different camera set-ups (one facing the driver shown in the opening shot, one shownig the road from behind the driver, shown in the shot of him pulling away.).
