A C-Type coupe?

Jaguar recreation specialist changes ownership

Enduro Cars has bought rival sports car maker Proteus Cars, manufacturer for the past 21 years of recreated sports cars such as its Jaguar C-Type.

Enduro’s own all-aluminium C-Type replica was launched at the 2006 International Historic Motorsport Show a year ago and, since then, examples have been sold in the UK, US, Belgium, Germany and Portugal.

This year, Enduro Cars is sponsoring the International Historic Motorsport show – now known as Race Retro and on this coming weekend – and will use the occasion to re-launch the Proteus name.

Henceforth the Proteus tag will be reserved for fully built, factory warranted cars and body/chassis components, while the Enduro name will be used for mechanical components.

Intriguingly, the company will also show a half-scale model of a new model proposal: a coupe version of the famous C-type that looks rather promising. Although never made by Jaguar in period, the company will gauge public reaction at the show before making a decision on production.

If I had the cash and they actually did build that then I'd be putting my name on the list. Oh yes

Absolutely stunning. A gorgeous beauty. It does look similar to the Wiessmann but the Wiessmann is retro and this looks like a real cassic.

Cheers Jens

Very pretty, but wouldn't a C-type coupe have been more likely to have had an XK120 coupe type roof line, rather than a fastback affair?

What a beautiful car... cool

I really like the facts that it's all aluminium.
(Not so shure about the perspective of the windscreen though!)

I would say that it probably would be similar to this concept, only in the way that Jaguar designed the low drag E then I guess this C would've been a predecssor non?

I may be wrong though of course.

Looks really good, I would buy one, perhaps they should make it with a removable hard top.

Like the look of that!

From the lines on the roof of the the enlarged pic it looks as though there may be removable targa sections...possibly?

Also, the front screen looks like it's split into two sections....

Interesting, not only that there might be a C type coupé but that it is Enduro who have bought Proteus. Only the other day I was talking to a company in the midlands who said they were buying it. Mind you, buying might be too strong a word since the previous owners had debts everywhere it seems. The internet site still showed them as being in Romsey and not long ago two companies apparently bought the "sole concessionaires" right and after paying up never saw a car. The father and son operation decamped abroad and the father was last heard of with a Polish address where apparently he was going to start manufacture. Two of the sons cars are at Le Mans where he apparently lives. I met the Enduro guys at last years Le Mans parade and they seem nice guys, so perhaps the Proteus name can once again become as respected as in the days of Jim Marland.
