Hello everyone, I'm new here to this forum but I've been into cars ever since I was a little 'un. I trained as an apprentice mechanic at Vanden Plas, ran my own garage repair business for 6 years, and worked on Hot Car Magazine, Car Mechanics and Street Machine in the 70's & 80's.

I've owned a pristine Triumph Stag for the last seven years, and am currently on my second Caterham Super Sprint (X-flow). That's my background out of the way, now down to the subject in the heading.

On the 31st May this year (which is a thursday) I am once again organising the Annual Petrolhead's Spring Cruise. This is now in its sixth year with all profits going to the Macmillan Cancer relief fund. This Cruise has always been supported by the publishers of 911 Porsche world, Japanese Performance, Ultra VW, American Car world And Triumph World. In addition, this year we have the added support of Jaguar World, Classic Car Weekly, and Mercedes Enthusiast magazines.

We will be meeting at the new Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands at 8am for registration, where you'll be given a Monte Carlo Rally style plaque to attach to your car, then into the M-B building to a private area for a bacon roll & coffee followed by a look around the exhibits on display, apart from the latest offerings, you'll see the hugely expensive Maybach sloons ( at over three hundred thousand! pounds) as well as the historic cars, which by May are strongly rumoured to be exhibits celebrating M-B's racing heritage. Maybe "Silver" race-cars? Their resident historian Stuart)is on hand exclusively for us to answer any questions on the historic displays.

then we're off down to the New Forest and on to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, where we will be parking in a specially reserved area for us right in view of the Brabazon restaurant where we once again have our own reserved area to have lunch. After being suitably fed & watered, you are free to look around the many fabulous exhibits on display, especially the new themed area crammed with "Supercars".

At 4pm, we have a presentation of trophies to the best three cars taking part in the Cruise, and we are privilaged to have as our Judge & presenter, no less then Lord Montagu himself, who I'm sure you know has done more to keep the british motor heritage alive than anyone else in the country.

The cost to participate. which includes breakfast, lunch and entry to the Motor Museum is £60.00 for car & Driver, with an additional cost of £30.00 for each extra passenger.Last year we had over seventy cars and over one hundred people. The more the merrier - it all goes to make a bigger contribition to Macmillan Cancer Relief.

If you would like to take part this year, please drop me an e-mail with your address details and I'll send you a booking form. My e-mail is rephotopublishingltd@btinternet.com

I look forward to hearing from you,

Cheers,
Phil

I quite like the sound of this...I'm not far from Brooklands, and my Vit' is kept in storage in the New Forest - room for one of BL's finest?
