The ACO have decided to inaugurate a new classic event which will take place every 2nd year when the Classic isn't on. It isn't racing but a big meeting of clubs and like minded people and they are working on about 40,000 per day coming. I am involved somewhat and while it isn't a racing event there will be a tour of the track (probably behind a pace car though) and basically a good weekend boozing and having fun.The classic mags will I am sure be picking up on it so if interested keep your eyes peeled.

Now there's a great idea.

I was not going to do Le Mans this year, but I suspect you have just changed my mind.

I've just received the following letter from the ACO:

To whom it may concern:

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest, organizer of the "24 Heures du Mans", is preparing a new event: "la Fete de l'Automobile" (Automobile Fair), from 28 to 30 Speptember 2007.
The objective of this "Fete de l'Automobile" is to gather together all the actors of the automobile of yesterday, today and tomorrow, within the exceptional context of the circuit and its various installations.
This event has a strongly popular vocation: "to honour the automobile, from those who concieve it to those who drive it". Entry will be free of charge, upon invitation.
We are approaching you with the suggestion that you may wish to take part in tis event and associate your image with the values which we hold dear and which we hope to convey during this exhibition.
You will find enclosed, a short explanation of what the "Fete de l'Automobile" is, as well as our commercial file.
During these three days, you will benefit from:
Free entry,
Free exhibition of your vehicles,
Free laps of the Bugatti circuit (subject to availability),
Free access to Saturday evening's show,
One lap of the 24 hours' circuit for Euro30 for each car (Euro15 for ACO members) (subject to availability).

It's signed: David Tailliez, Charge de Mission, Fete de l'Automobile
