Uprated Alternator for my '71 DBS V8
Discussion
following on(ish) from the topic on uprating light bulbs, I would be kened on uprating the alternator on the Aston DBS V8. It has an alternator with a seperate 4TR control bo/regulator, and I would be interested in replacing this whole set up with a more modern, more powerful version.
Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? Or is there an electrical engineer close to Leicester?

First, find an alternator that physically fits in place of the existing one, and either has just two connections - D+ and DF - or has those connections plus others which are not important. Most seem to have such connections; finding one that fits is the hard bit.
Wiring it up is the easy bit. DF goes to a wire that goes to the charge warning light on the dash. The other terminal of said light is fed from an ignition-controlled live. Most of this is probably there already, so you just have to find the wire under the bonnet and connect it to DF. D+ goes to wherever the original alternator/regulator output went to.
