Hi Folks,
Taken delivery of a lovely totally R5 Turbo G reg, 55,000mls fsh etc. pleased as punch with it and re-living my youth after having to sell my TVR.

Can anyone reccommend the correct oil spec. including viscosity for this car as I have had conflicting advice from Renault dealers.

Many thanks

Can't remember the actual spec' of the oil I used to run in mine, but I do remember that when Renualt luanched the 5 Turbo they specified oil change every 6000 miles but very quickly changed that to every 3000 miles.

So a good quality fully synthetic every 3000 and do the filter at the same time. The turbo on these models need a couple of minutes to cool down with the engine ticking over before you switch off. Maybe your turbo has an after market turbo timer tho. Hop this is not eggs / suck.

Many thanks for the reply.

Mechanics turbo etc. all totally standard and i have been letting it warm up for about 5 min. and cool down with engine running for 2 min.

So far most of The Renault dealers have reccommended Castrol GTX magnatec fully synth. 10/40W but I have also been advised that I should be looking for a semi-synth. Any advances on this?

My own fave would be the Castrol synthetic. Ask Oilpieman in General General Gassing forum here, he works in oil (so to speak)I think its a stcky thread at the top of that forum. Post a few pics of your turbo maybe?

Seconded

p.s. shouldn't you be asking this question in the 'French Bred' section?
