Went last year, definitely a show on the up, the classic rally cars put on a good show, as did the lads from the autotesting scene.

Hopfully I'll be able to make this year's event.

I went to this last year too and thoroughly enjoyed it. I see from their website that the Group B cars will doing their thing again which, for me, was a real highlight last time. Very good show, highly recommended.

Was it packed out last year?

No, not really. Obviously the venue is considerably more 'compact' than the NEC and it took a little while to get into the car park, but once in there was plenty of space to mooch about. Keep an eye out for the 'Slowly Sideways' rally car demos as they can get quite busy and everyone watches from behind one long fence. If you want a good view and take some photos, get there in good time.

One other tip, wear fairly rugged footwear as there is a fair bit to see outside and cold, damp grass can soon seep through 'funky' trainers.

Been the last couple of years and I've enjoyed it but I see that this years it's gone down the Autosport Route and entry is now £18 (on the day) with an additional £4 for parking in a muddy field. Not the way to build numbers?

Was quite surprised by the parking charge. Mind you I think the place is run by the same group as the NEC.

Oh, I guess I may not go after all. I was going to take a sportscar but getting stuck in a soggy field and paying for the priviledge makes me think that my time and money can be better used elsewhere.

Is this the one at stoneleigh? If so I seem to remember parking on a nice, flat, possibly gravelled/wood chipped area . Either way it wasn't a 'getting stuck in a muddy field' sort of affair at all.

Go on, you know you want to! Got my tickets during the week (£15 each plus the £4 parking) and am looking forward to going on Sunday with my brother. Last year we parked in a bit of a puddly bit but IIRC there weren't too many parking Nazis about so if it is wet, you could find your own drier part. There were plenty about, only that we'd been queued up for ages and just parked in the first place that was clear!

Another good show, somewhat bigger than last year's and a lot more to see too. The 'new' Lola T70 was gorgeous as was the Chevron B8 and B16 that we saw. We stumbled across the historic motorcycle trialling that was going on in one hall and that was superb. Fantastic noise and smell and superb skill from the riders, especially the ones in the sidecar combinations. One outfit even managed to land heavily on it's front wheel, ejecting the hapless pair across the floor!

Once again though, the highlight for me was the excellent Slowly Sideways rally car display. Some fabulous old cars including a Porsche 911 driven by Bjorn Waaldegard and a Manta 400 with Russell Brookes up. Here's some pictures for those who may have missed it.

The number on that TR8 looked rather familiar - but not quite the same plate.

I had hoped to get to Stoneleigh today but things conspired against me.

Maybe next year ...
