a friend of mine had a big austin 18,(i think it was 1936 as it had a painted radiator, not chrome), it had been parked up since the war, and all he did was to change the oil, plug leads, and tyres,to get it back on the road.
it was a fabulous car for touring in, and on one club trip to southern ireland he was 6 up, with baggage, and it performed hansomely!

Try www.necpwa.org.uk and click on library. They have the following entry which I assume is a sales brochure. You have to be a member to download apparently, but it's a start in the right direction.
TMRRT 19.12.33 The New 18hp Austin Carlton Saloon A1-1801
necpwa is North East Club for Pre War Austins incidentally.
Just actually read the library section and TMRRT = The Motor Rationalised Road Test, so I'm assuming the 19th December 1933 copy of the Motor roadtested the Austin 18hp Carlton.
Just call me Sherlock if I'm right
