I need to do this so that it can be sent off for a re-plasticating of the rim. Trouble is I cannot work out how to remove the bloomin thing. It is a 1928 Austin 12/4 and has the hand throttle and advance/retard ignition levers to the top of the steering wheel, and this is where I need some help, how do I remove the levers to be able to get the wheel off.

Any help greatly appreciated.
I have put the same question onto the Austin 7 forum.
Pity the Vintage Austin Register do not have a web forum:(

Not sure about the 12/4, but I got the steering box on the 12/50 rebuilt a few years ago, hence I had to remove/replace the column from/on the car. From memory, I disconnected the connections on the other side of the steering box and drew the rods back up the column. On my tourer it helped that the roof was down. I think there was some grup screw on/under the sector plate. The steering wheel was keyed and clamped.

Thanks tvrgaas, so the connections from the rods should be disconnected and then draw the rods up and out from the top of steering wheel, if I understand correctly.

Yep steering wheel now removed, quite straight forward following advise offered. Just managed to splodge some grease on my headlining tho when drawing out the rods. blast and damn.
