After spending a long time looking for one, I managed to get hold of a Renault 5 Gordini (Alpine) Turbo.

I'm sure it's lovely, and your probably either driving or polishing it right now, but the link doesn't work .

I bought it through a French Owners Club in August, and I will gladly post up piccies if I can get it to work...

Success. It works.

I have had to get a few bits and bobs done to the car and I am waiting for some suspension parts from the states to arrive, then all I have to do is tidy the interior and she should be done.

She will be on English plates this week, which is a shame as it looks better on the French ones. If there is a local meet I will be bringing her.

In answer to your question in the other topic, I couldn't find a white one in the UK with a red interior, and I quite like the fact that it was LHD. With regards to costs, I don't want to give specifics, but I can tell you that it was as much if not a little more than you would pay in this country.

My car is a 2 owner, the first owner had it fron 1983 to 2004, and in that time it has a bare shell rebuild includin all the components and engine. It is all original Renault where possible, and other than the rear suspension bushes it need a new headlining and in the not too distant future a re-upholster.

If you are interested in one, give me a shout and I will gladly assist.

I have to say that is a great car

I remember my brother had a look at one for sale about 13 years ago just up the road from where we lived. It was in blue and I'm sure it stilll had its original wheels just like yours.

The guy also had a MK1 Fiesta Supersport in silver with the broad orange stripe down the sides for sale at the same time, if only I'd been ablke to buy them myself at the time!

Ahhhh the 80's hot hatch, those were the days!

Out of interest what's the power/performance of the Gordini, I've never really known much about them?

They are 110bhp and 112mph vmax, and 9.3sec to 60mph as far as I am aware.

Hopefully during the winter a GT turbo will be donaying it's carbs and intercooler and that should see almost 140bhp without any other mods.

That will be soooo much fun!

140bhp in a car that light will be pretty rapid me thinks!

You're a lucky, lucky man.

You are not wrong. There is no such thing as the turbo building up boost from 2k rpm. It is either boosting or not and it starts a 4000rpm and goes to the 6000rpm red line
