Not being able to wash my car or bike in a hosepipe ban is NFG

What if u want to market your car for sale for example?

I mean, there are loads of reasons why you would need to use a jet wash. In fact, it’s impossible to wash your motorbike properly without a jet wash.

They say you can only use a bucket. What good is a bucket of water when you need to wash a car properly?

Any of you guys come up within an ingenious way please let me know

Rain water butt, I have a 210 litre one and for general car and motorcycle washes it works fine just make sure your pressure washer can be fed by one

You could use a public car wash at a petrol station that has the pressure washer and then take your own bucket/cleaning stuff

This is my plan. Crack on and hope I don't have snitchy neighbours.

If you have the remotest reason to be on a 'priority list' with the water company, get on it. Usually then exempt from all the most draconian hosepipe restrictions, even in deepest, darkest Sussex where we only tend to manage about 4 months of the year without being on a ban.....our most recent ban did include people on the priority list.

I had 24 litres of bottled water delivered yesterday - we have water, so presumably they're intending to cut us off at some point soon again!

My Nilfisk will work off a water butt, with the right filtered supply hose, so when they ban us again I'll probably buy one of those. They're only about £20 from memory.

IIRC I just put the hose to my jetwash in a bucket of water and topped it up occasionally. Thing is people just see you flouting car wash rules, they don't see that you're not.

In reality the water company has no-one to stop you, they just hope most people will abide by the rules.

I'll just use a local jet wash.

I ve had motorbikes for 45 years, and never used a jetwash on them.
There are two easy ways to clean a car during a hose pipe ban. First use a watering can, sounds ridiculous, works just fine.
Second use waterless cleaner, I think the turtle wax one works best out of the ones I ve tried. We go away for quite long periods and I use it then.
Quite happy to use it in this, which I am quite fussy about!

Depends on the amount of grime of course but look at rinseless wash like Optimum No-Rinse or similar products.

If you’re on benefits you’re excused the hosepipe ban. Also the state pension is seen as a benefit by some.

State pension is classed as a benefit as you have to claim it not a given.

Really hope the ban doesn’t last as long as the last one!

I was planning on getting a pre-clean in a pump spray bottle thingy, followed by snow foam - again, in a pump spray bottle.

Rinse off with watering can then do normal contact wash then rinse again.

No idea how to do the wheels and arches.

Will also need to be done in the evening as the hard water here leaves horrendous water marks biggrin

We don’t all have hosepipe bans.

Car washes are exempt.

Bought this the last time there was a hose-pipe ban, about four years ago.

It's amazing — fill up a plastic 25-litre bucket and it will last the whole wash, including the wheels.

I don't use the hose now, hose-pipe ban or not.

Spray a few squirts of Autoglym Rapid Detailer in a deep bucket, then fill to about a third full with water, wash the car with your best sponge, then sling the rest over the car, grab your drying cloth and dry the car. Hopefully it will be sparkling without using a hosepipe.

Get a "benefit claimant" / GOV pensioner to pop round and do the hosing as we are exempt apparently.

I have a 1000L IBC that I use as a water butt (filtered water from the roof guttering feeds it).

My Karcher will happily run from it.
