Oulton Park - 16th May 2026
Discussion
Touring car rewind will be on tomorrow. Weathers looking dry and a good selection of classics will be racing during the day.

I haven’t been to a car race at Oulton Park since the late 80’s preferring motorcycle racing. However, I really fancy this event and I live not that far from Oulton. https://www.oultonpark.co.uk/2026/may/touring-car-...
I think the Cheshire area must have more enthusiasts who enjoy attending motor racing and drive nice cars than any other area. I go to most UK circuits and nowhere comes close . My local track, Croft , usually gets two men and a dog , Cadwell(my favourite track) can attract a decent crowd ,often with wonderful cars , while Donington can feel like a ghost town, if not as much as Silvertone, where the tumbleweed is visible. Mallory , on the other hand ,really lives up to its friendly circuit label , as does the wonderful Anglesey. Goodwood , of course , is in a wonderful parallel universe in every respect .
I'm 'working ' for CSCC at Brands next weekend and that is another favourite .
Anyway, lovely cars at Oulton , I really should have gone over.

What a fantastic car park!
1275 GT, Astra GSI and the Vectra Super Touring for me. But some great cars there on Saturday. Really good turn out. Most of the parking area was full for 9am with plenty still turning up after that. We spent more time going around the parking area than watching the racing!I have to be honest the car parking was almost the highlight, 60's grid was great plus a huge MG field. However the Super Touring angle was perhaps over egged a little (and yes i'm acutely aware of the costs)....certainly in last 5 and definitely 10 years there have been much bigger touring car grids of 70/80/90's at The Gold Cup. Great format and hope it massively grows but it did feel a tad Clubbie with a decent car show bolted on....£30 was perhaps a bit punchy.

The Gold Cup is a great meeting and the car park is just as good. MDMA . said:

ETA I forgot the Rover SD1!
I really fancied going to this, but previous experience at Oulton Park told me to wait to see the entry lists before committing to £27 for a ticket.
Glad I did, eight cars in the headline Super Tourers race, and that was pushing the definition somewhat for some of the cars. The rest of the grids, other than pre 66 and MG’s also looked a bit on the thin side.
The car parks do look great though, some lovely cars on show. Although I’m not sure about the wheels on that 156 GTA.

I had a decent day apart from the weather, but that's one thing we can't do anything about. I'd like to have seen more cars, but the commentator mentioned costs and parts issues making things more difficult, and I don't expect the trek "up north" helped. Hopefully they'll run it again and maybe get more out. I seem to have ended up talking to people for a bit too much time, as I've seen lots of photos of stuff that I didn't see on the day. I hardly took any photos of the car park, I think that's partly because I see a lot of these cars quite often.

I was hoping to see this race, but engine trouble unfortunately forced it to retire after qualifying
