I don't think so.

Headlamps & rear spoiler look wrong and as far as I'm aware 959s did not have sunroofs.
Also is that RHD? All(?) 959s that the factory produced were LHD.
Therefor it's probably a modifed 911.

That's the giveaway. Plus the fact that a genuine 959 was still a half million pound car pre crash so seems an unlikely item for these guys to stock

Real 959s were never worth half a million quid in 1993. They cost about £145k when new in 1987. The collectors car investment bubble burst in 1990, so they would have been a tough sell as a technically complex 5 or 6 year old LHD car in 1993. I am pretty sure you could buy one for 5 figures.

I was watching this yesterday, it's fascinating. The dealer with the '959' very obliquely says it's not real.
It's funny but I don't remember the World looking like that in 1993 , it all looks far more mid 80's to my eyes. I was 15 then so thought i'd have a decent memory of what the World looked like.

Has the main chap in it been in something else? He seemed oddly familiar ?

I agree ! I said they were worth half a million "pre crash", I meant in the heady days of the late 80s

To be fair, he does say it's a lookalike.

Really interesting watch though. Nice little time capsule.

Edit: still got a car dealer on the same site!

London Road Southend (ok Hadleigh), wall to wall dodgy used car dealers, selling cars with pinstripes.

My dad brought a 1980 3500 SDi in Persian Aqua metallic with gold wheels from a London Road wideboy/trader, so it looked like a V8S. To 15 year old me, it was a fantastic upgrade compared to his previous car, a Middle Eastern spec Datsun 140J. But I think poor old dad was goaded into buying the blingy Rover, because a year later the big end went, and I think it nearly bankrupted him.
