Volkswagen Corrado parts. Help please??

A mate of mine has been searching for a steering column for his 2litre Corrado for months now. New one from VW is £900+! Any ideas?

The 3 best places (that I have used) are

GSF (German, Swedish & French) - www.gsfcarparts.com
ECP (Euro Car Parts) - www.eurocarparts.com
GPC - www.gpcvwaudi.com

The 1st two have a pretty good on-line store, the latter you will generally need to phone but they are very helpful and friendly.
